DESCRIPTION

This course covers the issues of business ethics, and explores the ethical issues decision makers are exposed to when developing employee and organizational policy. The essential nature of ethics and the role that ethics play in the decision process in explored at length, and include analysis of individual decision-making processes and corporate culture

OBJECTIVES

  1. Recognize and explain the major ethical theories that are used in the decision making process. 
  2. Explain the basic characteristics of a profession, and provide insights to the ethical codes that make one a professional within a specified field.
  3. Understand basic philosophies of proponents regarding corporate social responsibility.
  4. Recognize the pros and cons of both sides of each moral dilemma.
  5. Identify the major stakeholders and how they are affected by different ethical philosophies used in decision-making.
  6. Identify the major ethical issues facing managers in the decision-making process.
  7. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of using self-regulation or government regulation to resolve social issues.
  8. Determine the necessary and appropriate steps to reach decisions that are both ethically and socially responsible.
  9. Evaluate ethical problems that include diverse professions, backgrounds, orientations, cultural values, and styles; and show how multidisciplinary collaboration can combine different experiences and values to reach decisions that do justice to all relevant considerations.
